TENDENCIES: IMPATIENCE

Image
Dear Believer, I'm so glad you're on this journey with me.  We have been talking about various tendencies and I am confident you have been blessed. We're on the fourth tendency which is impatience. I want you to read with an open mind so that the Holy Spirit can expressly speak to you.  I also pray that your abundance don't hang as a result of impatience. Cheers to your testimony! Tunde was so happy seeing his uncle, TY at a family occasion. He hadn't seen him in 6 years since he went for his Msc. abroad.  Uncle TY was now fresher & healthier and as far as Tunde was concerned, he's got money too.  Soon, they got talking and food was being served. They had spent over 60 minutes talking already and Tunde was now hungry. "Uncle TY, they are already serving oh. Let's go and eat", he said holding his stomach and yawning at the same time. "Don't worry, we'll eat. I'll personally collect food packages for the two of us." They tal...

TENDENCIES: PRIDE

Image
Dear Believer, I want to say a big thank you for opening the third blog post in this month. God bless you abundantly. I trust you have been blessed by the previous episodes you have read. Since the month began, God has been pointing out some tendencies(inadequacies; not necessary obvious sins) in us that can hinder His abundance in our lives.  We're on the third already: Pride. If you have not read any of the tendencies,   here is the link to read. You can keep it, it's all yours. I trust God to open your heart to be receptive of what He has for you today. Amen. There ruled a powerful royalty, the ruler of the most prominent city in the world while he lived. He had slaves from many countries and he was rich, powerful and feared. One day, he had a dream. And dreams in those days were important messages to and for the dreamer. No one could interpret his dream except a captive. By the Spirit of God, this captive got his dream interpreted, but the dream had impending conse...

Tendencies: Keeping Malice

Image
Dear Believer, I am particularly excited about today's tendency. I trust you can relate with it and make resolutions where necessary. Get blessings while reading. I used to keep Malice with a renowned bank in Nigeria.  God has helped me passed that phase. They duped me of some funds and I felt cheated and very angry. I vowed to drag them on Twitter... I never did sha. But, I did not hesitate to show people how angry I was each time someone mentioned their name and tell them how they messed with me. Can you think of a bible character who had this tendency too? I know of Absalom.  He is a very good example of malice. With his long hair and beautiful features, he had a PhD in Malice. He was really offended at Amnon for taking advantage of Tamar, but he didn't say anything. He planned his revenge on Amnon for 2 years. 2 Sam. 13. To me, this is malice reloaded and wickedness. Malice is not just greeting one person or another that offends you or withholding communication. It's be...

Tendencies: Nailing Old Errors

Image
Yaay, I come bearing good news.  A special shout-out to May celebrants. Your testimony will be bigger this month, Amen. For everyone connected to Layò Writes You, May is the month of abundance of rain (answered prayers). All Thursdays in May, God will have us treat some tendencies that can hinder the abundance of rain in our lives. The May episode theme is "Tendencies in the Believer". And today, we'll talk about the first tendency: Nailing old Errors. I kind of have a photographic memory - the one that remembers something accurately after a long time it happened. I want to believe everyone has it too; to an extent.  Most times, you tend to remember vividly the things that scar you or trigger negative emotions in you than positive ones. Especially when it comes to experiences with people. Right? For me, yes! I have lost contact with this girl for about 5 years now. I still remember her name and face. Whenever I remember her, there's always one thing that readily comes...

THE ALL-KNOWING

Image
You must have been frustrated searching for something before. It was there but you didn't see it. This episode discusses about one attribute of God believers most times forget; His Omniscience. Continue reading in episode 16 of this blog post - The All-knowing Dear Believer, at the end of this episode, everything becomes easy because the Omniscient one is involved, Amen. Be blessed while reading. Anoramedia is another move of God in this end time and they use stories to preach and saturate the internet with godly videos.  Just like Layò Writes you uses text and images. In one of Anora's videos, a man was holding a call with someone and he forgot to pick his keys from the car ceiling.  He looked for it everywhere possible, but he couldn't find his keys.  Out of frustration, he got tired.  Then, he thought to ask the Holy Spirit for help. Almost immediately, he found the keys. Hmmm, you might as well say 'he found it so fast?' That's the power of acknowledging the...

DO IT SCARED!

Image
Dear Believer, I trust that you will be able to relate to today's episode and it blesses you. I was at a believer's meeting one time and we were asked to take hold of a partner and pray with the person.  After the prayer, we danced and rejoiced. Amidst the dancing, a girl was seated just scanning everywhere. She wasn't dancing. She didn't even look bothered. As soon as I saw her, the Holy Spirit said I should go and meet her, then pray with her.   In my mind, I was like "what for?" He said "she is in a broken home." I got more scared because what if I speak and she says "no, she isn't in a broken home. How would I explain anything that happens after that? I was so scared and reluctant. After minutes of argument, I summoned the courage to stand up to meet her. Like Esther who said "If I perish I perish, if she says no, e go be" There and then, she confirmed she was from a broken home. I cannot explain the kind of emotion I had afte...

THE GREATER OFFER

Image
Dear Believer, this episode talks about Jesus and the Samaritan woman! You'll sure enjoy and learn something from their conversation. Take your time to read and enjoy ! In John 4:10-12, the Bible records that Jacob was exceedingly great. God blessed him that he was greatly prosperous. He built a well that still functioned at the time of Jesus.  A woman came to draw water from the well; at least from a distance. If you have fetched from a well before, it can be very stressful. Then Jesus, knowing all, told her she could just ask and she would receive the living water. He gave her a better offer. "While the text does not reveal whether her tone was sarcastic, rhetorical, or fully sincere, many scholars suspect that she was probably being facetious" - christianity.com. She asked him "are you greater than Jacob for you to say you have a better option of asking and receiving?" *            *             * Jesus said you ha...

HEARTFELT CRY - ATTENTION

Image
Two sisters said the same thing but one moved the Master to take action. Does it have to do with what the one said or how she said it? This episode discusses how to get the Master's prompt attention. Continue reading in episode 13 of this blog post - HEARTFELT CRY (Getting His attention) *      *      * Dear Believer and reader, I'm excited to write to you again. It feels like one month of not writing due to our first quarter review. I really hope you catch the same energy in reading and sharing.   I trust you have been blessed by all 12 episodes, please, spam with your testimonies and lessons learned in the comment section. I love to read them. If you have not read all, here is the link to read all episodes. By the time you are done reading this episode, your eyes would have been opened to a better way to get God's attention.  I look forward to hearing your testimony. This is a beautiful story I read for myself the first time. I'll share it...

TO ALIGN - LWY EP 12

Image
Is it possible to know what God wants for you and do it the way He wants it done? This episode talks expressly on how to know God's plans for you and how to align with His plans.  Find out in Episode 12 of this blog post - To align. *  *  * Dear Believer, By the time you finish reading this blog post, you'd have discovered how to align with God's plans for you at every stage of your life. Cheers to your testimony! ❤️ To align is to fall in line.  To align is to identify with or match the behavior, thoughts of another person.  To align is to fit in a certain approved way of life.  The second strikes me more, you? In design, every element (e.g text, image) you see is aligned in a certain position and that's what makes the design beautiful. (Like the one above) P.S: If you don't know much about design, don't worry. Just know that any beautiful design you see out there is well-aligned. A design not well-aligned looks rowdy and unorganized; a life not aligned lo...

DOUBLE - LWY EP 11

Image
Anything double given as a compensation is always a gold mine. Double food, promotion, cash e.t.c. For you as a believer, what kind of double compensation can you receive? Find out in episode 11 of this blog post - DOUBLE . First, I'd love to appreciate you. Yes, you who is reading this piece.  Thank you... I will just finish my appreciation note at the end of today's read because it is more important right now. *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  * So, there is this story of some group of people who suffered so much.  They ate the bread of affliction and drank from their enemies.  They had come to accept their fate that they were destined to suffer, but like they say "there is light at the tunnel end."  They left the land of their enemies as glorified freemen but before they left, they got paid in full, Ex. 12:35-36. They were led out in a grand way into the life they were called to ...

UNSCARRED (with no scar) - LWY EP 10

Image
Is it possible to go through smoke and not smell smoke? Can you enter fire and not get burnt? This episode discusses two Bible stories about fire and believers being in fire situations. Continue reading in episode 10 of this blog post - UNSCARRED Unscarred is not scarred; even after going through a burn. Yoruba Google translate says "ti ko ni aleebu" It's almost impossible that some situations don't leave a scar in our lives but it is possible it doesn't. Two stories confirm this.  In Ex. 3:2, the angel of God appeared as flames of fire from a bush that didn't burn.  Moses saw it and moved closer. I'm guessing he wanted to have full view of this strange gist. Then in Daniel 3:21-27, three Hebrew men were thrown into fire bound but they didn't get burnt too.  I know you must be thinking "what connection does these two stories have?"  The most evident connection is fire.  The bush was on fire but it didn't burn.  The Hebrew men entered fir...

BACK TO THE BASIS - LWY EP 9

Image
Have you ever felt bad for choosing to do the right thing because the obviously wrong thing got the credit? This episode discusses the plight of believers standing for the right cause and how they can get comfort from the situation. Continue reading in episode 9 of this blog post - Back to the Basis It's very easy to envy and desire what's wrong especially when things are not working for you.  Instead of labeling those thoughts as evil, your heart begins to review and justify them.  Questions begin to pop up within you. This is a major vulnerable stage for the believer.  Many times, as believers, we have labeled God as partial especially in things relating to the rich and the poor, the believer and the unbeliever.  It's dumbfounding how good things go well for disobedient and evil people but it feels like we are stupid to have stayed obedient.  It surprises me too, even though I have tried to manage the thought of it and console myself.  We try to figure wh...

TIME - LWY EP 8

Image
There's a start and finish of everything. After starting, should you be doing anything or patiently wait for the results? This episode explains what next should happen after starting or sowing. Continue reading in episode 8 of this blog post - TIME  Planting is not easy.  First, there's always a particular season to plant.  Second, they are different things to put in place before you plant.  There are also activities even after planting till the plant crops are harvested. After you plant maize for example, you have to supply, thin, weed, manure and do plenty of things. You won't just leave after planting only to come back - to harvest what?  Dear Believer, I'm sure you know there's time for everything. In case you don't know, please, read Eccl. 3:1-8. From 0:00 to 24:00, we call it 'a day.' What we do between these hours is what counts as time; nothing else. Not even saying "my day was great, ...etc." Time is the measure of your productivity in...

PERFECT LOVE PT 2 - LWY EP 7

Image
Have you ever tried convincing someone about a product you have never used or stopped using for a long time? You must have felt a little bit guilty if I'm correct. This episode talks about God's perfect Love for believers and if you're that one who's not sure of God's Love for him/her, this episode is for YOU.  Last week, we talked about the Perfect Love that casts out fear and works in us perfection as believers. But, it is quite sad that many believers have not experienced this Love or have stopped experiencing Him - Love.  Many of us tell people about God's Love, we reassure people that God Loves them even in their despicable states but we don't experience what we proclaim anymore. Love cannot manage with a contrary spirit in a room. That's why for Love to be in you, first, it casts out the fear in you.  You cannot feel God's Love if you fail to let go of every hindrance.  You cannot feel God's love if you fail to forgive yourself and accept y...
