Tendencies in the Believer: Ingratitude

Image
Dear Believer,  Thank you for opening the 7th episode, 6th tendency in this believer series. Even as you read about this last episode, I pray that your eyes are opened to see. Your testimony is around the corner because there's no more hindrance. Amen. If you have missed any of the tendency series, get the link now so you don't miss out any more. Cheers.  In the Yoruba culture, (a predominant culture in Nigeria), when an elder gives a child something, it is expected that the child prostrates to say thank you. That's a sign of good upbringing to them; and it increases verbal blessings.  If the child says thank you and doesn't prostate or kneel well, they don't believe s/he has tendered his/her appreciation rightly. Think of someone you have done quite much for and did not appreciate it. You must have felt unhappy, cheated and disappointed.  Now, be careful not to start nailing old errors. I'm not saying you should start regretting doing the person so much favor...

Tendencies: The Wrong Motive

Image
Dear Believer,  We're on the fifth tendency, sixth episode - The wrong motive.  Thank you for staying put. I implore you to read this episode with an open heart so you can be blessed. If you have missed reading any one, get to see all links here . Cheers to your testimony! God's creative vessel, Olúwalayòmi, Bẹẹni. ❤️ More than a year now, one of my obsessions was looking at my limbs.  I loved to adore my feet and fingers early in the morning because they're so fine even without polish. I went visiting my older sister and I had to use her transparent polish for my nails because I loved showing them off. I remember at one fellowship meeting, I could feel the Holy Spirit asking me to take everything off.  I struggled to do this but at last, I scraped everything. I am not an advocate of whether polishing nails is wrong or right in this episode. I'm only talking about the motive behind this. P.S: If you're willing to know my own view about this, polishing nails is never...

IMPATIENCE 2

Image
Happy new month to you! God bless you. We started the series - Tendencies in the Believer on May 5. We'll continue in June too. Last week, we read about impatience - not waiting for God and the fulfillment of His promise.  We also read about how impatience can hinder God's plans & abundance for us because we have impatiently settled for less.  If you have not read it, you can read here . Today, we will continue on impatience - in God's presence.  Sometime last year, I read a mountzion comic about a lady that rushed her quiet time and once she caught a rhema, posted it on her media page, rushed out of God's presence.  Just one word of knowledge and she closed her Bible and she's gone.  If you can mirror yourself in this story, that's impatience playing out. Many believers have similar experiences. You rush in & rush out of God's presence.  Even while you are before God, you are impatient to leave. There's no way you can get anything tangible i...

TENDENCIES: IMPATIENCE

Image
Dear Believer, I'm so glad you're on this journey with me.  We have been talking about various tendencies and I am confident you have been blessed. We're on the fourth tendency which is impatience. I want you to read with an open mind so that the Holy Spirit can expressly speak to you.  I also pray that your abundance don't hang as a result of impatience. Cheers to your testimony! Tunde was so happy seeing his uncle, TY at a family occasion. He hadn't seen him in 6 years since he went for his Msc. abroad.  Uncle TY was now fresher & healthier and as far as Tunde was concerned, he's got money too.  Soon, they got talking and food was being served. They had spent over 60 minutes talking already and Tunde was now hungry. "Uncle TY, they are already serving oh. Let's go and eat", he said holding his stomach and yawning at the same time. "Don't worry, we'll eat. I'll personally collect food packages for the two of us." They tal...

TENDENCIES: PRIDE

Image
Dear Believer, I want to say a big thank you for opening the third blog post in this month. God bless you abundantly. I trust you have been blessed by the previous episodes you have read. Since the month began, God has been pointing out some tendencies(inadequacies; not necessary obvious sins) in us that can hinder His abundance in our lives.  We're on the third already: Pride. If you have not read any of the tendencies,   here is the link to read. You can keep it, it's all yours. I trust God to open your heart to be receptive of what He has for you today. Amen. There ruled a powerful royalty, the ruler of the most prominent city in the world while he lived. He had slaves from many countries and he was rich, powerful and feared. One day, he had a dream. And dreams in those days were important messages to and for the dreamer. No one could interpret his dream except a captive. By the Spirit of God, this captive got his dream interpreted, but the dream had impending conse...

Tendencies: Keeping Malice

Image
Dear Believer, I am particularly excited about today's tendency. I trust you can relate with it and make resolutions where necessary. Get blessings while reading. I used to keep Malice with a renowned bank in Nigeria.  God has helped me passed that phase. They duped me of some funds and I felt cheated and very angry. I vowed to drag them on Twitter... I never did sha. But, I did not hesitate to show people how angry I was each time someone mentioned their name and tell them how they messed with me. Can you think of a bible character who had this tendency too? I know of Absalom.  He is a very good example of malice. With his long hair and beautiful features, he had a PhD in Malice. He was really offended at Amnon for taking advantage of Tamar, but he didn't say anything. He planned his revenge on Amnon for 2 years. 2 Sam. 13. To me, this is malice reloaded and wickedness. Malice is not just greeting one person or another that offends you or withholding communication. It's be...

Tendencies: Nailing Old Errors

Image
Yaay, I come bearing good news.  A special shout-out to May celebrants. Your testimony will be bigger this month, Amen. For everyone connected to Layò Writes You, May is the month of abundance of rain (answered prayers). All Thursdays in May, God will have us treat some tendencies that can hinder the abundance of rain in our lives. The May episode theme is "Tendencies in the Believer". And today, we'll talk about the first tendency: Nailing old Errors. I kind of have a photographic memory - the one that remembers something accurately after a long time it happened. I want to believe everyone has it too; to an extent.  Most times, you tend to remember vividly the things that scar you or trigger negative emotions in you than positive ones. Especially when it comes to experiences with people. Right? For me, yes! I have lost contact with this girl for about 5 years now. I still remember her name and face. Whenever I remember her, there's always one thing that readily comes...
