Tendencies: Nailing Old Errors

Yaay, I come bearing good news.

A special shout-out to May celebrants. Your testimony will be bigger this month, Amen.

For everyone connected to Layò Writes You, May is the month of abundance of rain (answered prayers).

All Thursdays in May, God will have us treat some tendencies that can hinder the abundance of rain in our lives.

The May episode theme is "Tendencies in the Believer". And today, we'll talk about the first tendency: Nailing old Errors.

Woman frustrated from people nailing old Sins

I kind of have a photographic memory - the one that remembers something accurately after a long time it happened. I want to believe everyone has it too; to an extent.

Most times, you tend to remember vividly the things that scar you or trigger negative emotions in you than positive ones. Especially when it comes to experiences with people.

Right? For me, yes!

Woman looking out of her glasses suprised

I have lost contact with this girl for about 5 years now. I still remember her name and face. Whenever I remember her, there's always one thing that readily comes to mind; what she did in JSS 2.

So many people are on this table. The Holy Spirit is breaking the table now.

The only thing you remember about people are their errors/bad attitude done over a long period of time even if they have repented of it.

You lay claim on the adage that says "once a thief, always a thief."

Hmmm...

So, I remembered this girl not too long ago and as my mind criticized her for her JSS 2 error, I felt the Holy Spirit caution me.

She probably has realized her mistake and changed, but I still laid claim on some long committed error.

This was the same thing the Pharisees wanted to do with the adulterous woman. They stressed her sins before Jesus, yet they were guilty of errors too, John 8:1-11.

She's human, right? Agreed. And prone to have made some errors at the time she did. Like we have too, at some point in life.

Dear Believer, one way to hinder God's abundance of rain is nailing old sins to people or even ourselves.

If you only, always remember negative things that people have done over a long period or even about yourself, you need to check it.

It is not right and ungodly.

Jesus said the old has passed and the new is here.

Now, if anyone is enfolded into Christ, he has become an entirely new person. All that is related to the old order has vanished. Behold, everything is fresh and new.

2 Corinthians 5:17 TPT

2 Cor. 5:17 affirms that you're made anew and have been given a clean slate.

Seeing the one God has made clean or justified as dirty can attract punishments.

It means that you're saying God does not know what he's doing.

You can even push the other person to a state of guilt and low confidence in true repentance.

When God forgives, no one dares condemns. (In David's case)

Self-haunting yourself with your errors even when God has justified and called you holy is dangerous.

It limits the flow of God in your life and can cause God to block his ears to your prayers.

Dear Believer, I assure you that rain will fall in abundance.

Rain of favour, promotion, mercy etc.

Nailing old forgiven errors to people or even ourselves is a tendency that we ignore and it can stop us from enjoying rain in abundance.

Do you have this tendency? The Holy Spirit can help you.

Now, ask Him to break the strongholds of this tendency and strengthen your inner man.

You can say this declaration with me too:

Declaration over bad habits and believer tendencies

I am forgiven at the foot of the cross.

I may have erred but now I am clean.

I choose to see Christ in everyone around me.

I do not go about nailing people to their past errors.

I don't nail myself to my past errors either.

God helps me out of this tendency and make rain fall on me in abundance. Amen.

Suggested activity: Reflect on what you have just read. If you are on this table, consciously ask for help. Identify more tendencies that you have too.

I appreciate you for reading, but before you go, share with me what you have learnt today. ❤️
