THE STRONG MAN PT 2

Image
Dear reader & believer, it is my prayer that you find your answers here and the Holy Spirit does the work of quickening in you by making sure you stay strong in Him.  Please, read with an open heart and as slowly as you can, shunning all distractions. God bless you, Amen. Last week, we talked about the strong man in the context of Matthew 12:22-30. (If you haven't, kindly read it before continuing so you understand this concluding episode better. Click here now ) If you read Matthew 12:29 alone, you'll understand that the strong man can be anybody. A believer/saved man is a strong man because he now houses the excellency of God's power.  A man in Christ is a strong man  because he is under the one who is greater than the god of this World.  He's stronger than principalities and powers, he's stronger than the devil and commands as much power to displace his men from their habitat(s). Samson was indeed a strong man. He killed 1000 people with the jaw bone of an as...

The Strong Man

Image
Read, as slowly as you can and with an open mind too. God bless you.  Chris sat at table with his dad to eat. It was one of those days Suzanne decided to treat her husband and her 5-year-old son to special meals. Carefully, Chris made sure every grain from his plate disappeared into his mouth. Then, he got ready to pounce on the chicken thigh in his plate.  Seeing this, his dad stood up quietly and went to his back. He held Chris' two hands with one hand and with the other hand ate from his meat.  By the time Chris managed to wriggle free from his hold, a large portion of his meat was already gone.  You might want to call Chris' father an Àgbáyà (an adult bully). Well, you can't blame him much. Chris started the whole game; only that he had been unsuccessful in all his trials. "How can anyone enter a strong man’s house and steal his possessions, unless he first ties up the strong man? Then he can plunder his house," [Matt. 12:29 BSB] Analyzing this story, Chris...

Tendencies in the Believer: Ingratitude

Image
Dear Believer,  Thank you for opening the 7th episode, 6th tendency in this believer series. Even as you read about this last episode, I pray that your eyes are opened to see. Your testimony is around the corner because there's no more hindrance. Amen. If you have missed any of the tendency series, get the link now so you don't miss out any more. Cheers.  In the Yoruba culture, (a predominant culture in Nigeria), when an elder gives a child something, it is expected that the child prostrates to say thank you. That's a sign of good upbringing to them; and it increases verbal blessings.  If the child says thank you and doesn't prostate or kneel well, they don't believe s/he has tendered his/her appreciation rightly. Think of someone you have done quite much for and did not appreciate it. You must have felt unhappy, cheated and disappointed.  Now, be careful not to start nailing old errors. I'm not saying you should start regretting doing the person so much favor...

Tendencies: The Wrong Motive

Image
Dear Believer,  We're on the fifth tendency, sixth episode - The wrong motive.  Thank you for staying put. I implore you to read this episode with an open heart so you can be blessed. If you have missed reading any one, get to see all links here . Cheers to your testimony! God's creative vessel, Olúwalayòmi, Bẹẹni. ❤️ More than a year now, one of my obsessions was looking at my limbs.  I loved to adore my feet and fingers early in the morning because they're so fine even without polish. I went visiting my older sister and I had to use her transparent polish for my nails because I loved showing them off. I remember at one fellowship meeting, I could feel the Holy Spirit asking me to take everything off.  I struggled to do this but at last, I scraped everything. I am not an advocate of whether polishing nails is wrong or right in this episode. I'm only talking about the motive behind this. P.S: If you're willing to know my own view about this, polishing nails is never...

IMPATIENCE 2

Image
Happy new month to you! God bless you. We started the series - Tendencies in the Believer on May 5. We'll continue in June too. Last week, we read about impatience - not waiting for God and the fulfillment of His promise.  We also read about how impatience can hinder God's plans & abundance for us because we have impatiently settled for less.  If you have not read it, you can read here . Today, we will continue on impatience - in God's presence.  Sometime last year, I read a mountzion comic about a lady that rushed her quiet time and once she caught a rhema, posted it on her media page, rushed out of God's presence.  Just one word of knowledge and she closed her Bible and she's gone.  If you can mirror yourself in this story, that's impatience playing out. Many believers have similar experiences. You rush in & rush out of God's presence.  Even while you are before God, you are impatient to leave. There's no way you can get anything tangible i...

TENDENCIES: IMPATIENCE

Image
Dear Believer, I'm so glad you're on this journey with me.  We have been talking about various tendencies and I am confident you have been blessed. We're on the fourth tendency which is impatience. I want you to read with an open mind so that the Holy Spirit can expressly speak to you.  I also pray that your abundance don't hang as a result of impatience. Cheers to your testimony! Tunde was so happy seeing his uncle, TY at a family occasion. He hadn't seen him in 6 years since he went for his Msc. abroad.  Uncle TY was now fresher & healthier and as far as Tunde was concerned, he's got money too.  Soon, they got talking and food was being served. They had spent over 60 minutes talking already and Tunde was now hungry. "Uncle TY, they are already serving oh. Let's go and eat", he said holding his stomach and yawning at the same time. "Don't worry, we'll eat. I'll personally collect food packages for the two of us." They tal...

TENDENCIES: PRIDE

Image
Dear Believer, I want to say a big thank you for opening the third blog post in this month. God bless you abundantly. I trust you have been blessed by the previous episodes you have read. Since the month began, God has been pointing out some tendencies(inadequacies; not necessary obvious sins) in us that can hinder His abundance in our lives.  We're on the third already: Pride. If you have not read any of the tendencies,   here is the link to read. You can keep it, it's all yours. I trust God to open your heart to be receptive of what He has for you today. Amen. There ruled a powerful royalty, the ruler of the most prominent city in the world while he lived. He had slaves from many countries and he was rich, powerful and feared. One day, he had a dream. And dreams in those days were important messages to and for the dreamer. No one could interpret his dream except a captive. By the Spirit of God, this captive got his dream interpreted, but the dream had impending conse...

Tendencies: Keeping Malice

Image
Dear Believer, I am particularly excited about today's tendency. I trust you can relate with it and make resolutions where necessary. Get blessings while reading. I used to keep Malice with a renowned bank in Nigeria.  God has helped me passed that phase. They duped me of some funds and I felt cheated and very angry. I vowed to drag them on Twitter... I never did sha. But, I did not hesitate to show people how angry I was each time someone mentioned their name and tell them how they messed with me. Can you think of a bible character who had this tendency too? I know of Absalom.  He is a very good example of malice. With his long hair and beautiful features, he had a PhD in Malice. He was really offended at Amnon for taking advantage of Tamar, but he didn't say anything. He planned his revenge on Amnon for 2 years. 2 Sam. 13. To me, this is malice reloaded and wickedness. Malice is not just greeting one person or another that offends you or withholding communication. It's be...

Tendencies: Nailing Old Errors

Image
Yaay, I come bearing good news.  A special shout-out to May celebrants. Your testimony will be bigger this month, Amen. For everyone connected to Layò Writes You, May is the month of abundance of rain (answered prayers). All Thursdays in May, God will have us treat some tendencies that can hinder the abundance of rain in our lives. The May episode theme is "Tendencies in the Believer". And today, we'll talk about the first tendency: Nailing old Errors. I kind of have a photographic memory - the one that remembers something accurately after a long time it happened. I want to believe everyone has it too; to an extent.  Most times, you tend to remember vividly the things that scar you or trigger negative emotions in you than positive ones. Especially when it comes to experiences with people. Right? For me, yes! I have lost contact with this girl for about 5 years now. I still remember her name and face. Whenever I remember her, there's always one thing that readily comes...

THE ALL-KNOWING

Image
You must have been frustrated searching for something before. It was there but you didn't see it. This episode discusses about one attribute of God believers most times forget; His Omniscience. Continue reading in episode 16 of this blog post - The All-knowing Dear Believer, at the end of this episode, everything becomes easy because the Omniscient one is involved, Amen. Be blessed while reading. Anoramedia is another move of God in this end time and they use stories to preach and saturate the internet with godly videos.  Just like Layò Writes you uses text and images. In one of Anora's videos, a man was holding a call with someone and he forgot to pick his keys from the car ceiling.  He looked for it everywhere possible, but he couldn't find his keys.  Out of frustration, he got tired.  Then, he thought to ask the Holy Spirit for help. Almost immediately, he found the keys. Hmmm, you might as well say 'he found it so fast?' That's the power of acknowledging the...

DO IT SCARED!

Image
Dear Believer, I trust that you will be able to relate to today's episode and it blesses you. I was at a believer's meeting one time and we were asked to take hold of a partner and pray with the person.  After the prayer, we danced and rejoiced. Amidst the dancing, a girl was seated just scanning everywhere. She wasn't dancing. She didn't even look bothered. As soon as I saw her, the Holy Spirit said I should go and meet her, then pray with her.   In my mind, I was like "what for?" He said "she is in a broken home." I got more scared because what if I speak and she says "no, she isn't in a broken home. How would I explain anything that happens after that? I was so scared and reluctant. After minutes of argument, I summoned the courage to stand up to meet her. Like Esther who said "If I perish I perish, if she says no, e go be" There and then, she confirmed she was from a broken home. I cannot explain the kind of emotion I had afte...

THE GREATER OFFER

Image
Dear Believer, this episode talks about Jesus and the Samaritan woman! You'll sure enjoy and learn something from their conversation. Take your time to read and enjoy ! In John 4:10-12, the Bible records that Jacob was exceedingly great. God blessed him that he was greatly prosperous. He built a well that still functioned at the time of Jesus.  A woman came to draw water from the well; at least from a distance. If you have fetched from a well before, it can be very stressful. Then Jesus, knowing all, told her she could just ask and she would receive the living water. He gave her a better offer. "While the text does not reveal whether her tone was sarcastic, rhetorical, or fully sincere, many scholars suspect that she was probably being facetious" - christianity.com. She asked him "are you greater than Jacob for you to say you have a better option of asking and receiving?" *            *             * Jesus said you ha...

HEARTFELT CRY - ATTENTION

Image
Two sisters said the same thing but one moved the Master to take action. Does it have to do with what the one said or how she said it? This episode discusses how to get the Master's prompt attention. Continue reading in episode 13 of this blog post - HEARTFELT CRY (Getting His attention) *      *      * Dear Believer and reader, I'm excited to write to you again. It feels like one month of not writing due to our first quarter review. I really hope you catch the same energy in reading and sharing.   I trust you have been blessed by all 12 episodes, please, spam with your testimonies and lessons learned in the comment section. I love to read them. If you have not read all, here is the link to read all episodes. By the time you are done reading this episode, your eyes would have been opened to a better way to get God's attention.  I look forward to hearing your testimony. This is a beautiful story I read for myself the first time. I'll share it...
