EXPECTATIONS - LWY EP 4

Have you ever attended a big wedding party before? Did you have an idea of what the party should look like even before attending? As a believer, should you have expectations of what things should look like?

Find out in this blog post of Chicken Episode 4 - Expectations

Good morning Chicken Episodes lovers, I have an important information to pass to you after today's writing. Please, go through it.

The chicken story I had in mind for today was already penned down only for the Holy spirit to suggest another. He gave me another story to write about and I was so confused, how does this relate to the Christian faith? What lessons do we pick from this as Christians?

Well, I calmed down for the boss to explain what he wants to bring out from the story. After all, the goal is that He is vividly seen and that you are edified.

That's one reason I'd encourage you to please, read this particular episode with rapt attention. You're not reading a story, but God's message to you. The Holy Spirit has a message for you, don't be carried away.

Everytime the gate is opened and Mr X's car comes in, there is a change in atmosphere. Silence is replaced by subtle joyful moments.

What's happening?

All Mr X's hens start running from wherever they are towards his car.

They are the first set of creatures who welcome him back from wherever he's gone to.

As soon as he opens his car door, they gather in their numbers to welcome him. Then you'll see him enter the house, sometimes, without removing his office clothes and attending to the hens.

If it were another person like me, I will chase them away. I'm sure they won't even come close to me because they don't recognize me.

Now, how does this speak to you as a Christian? How does it speak to me?

The hens rushing to meet Mr X every time he came back home had an expectation.

They couldn't have been waiting to collect his food pack or his office documents. Their only expectation for welcoming him was to get food; nothing else. That, they have earnestly been waiting for.

Whenever you go to church, whenever you go to the secret place, do you go with an expectation? What expectations do you go with?

Only an expectant heart receives.

If you don't expect, you can't receive and many times, you won't value it if you receive [James 1:6-7].

Sometimes, we get ignored because we go with the wrong expectations or with the wrong state of heart to get our expected answers.

The hens rushing to Mr X reminded him that they were hungry.

When you go to God with a heart that expects, you will receive because God won't let you leave his presence unanswered.

The hens rush to Mr X because they believe they will surely get food.

But we believers go to God in prayers, through the Word, through church services and other mediums with half-minds, with doubt if we will receive or not [Heb 11:6b].

We rack our brains to find options in case we don't get an immediate response from God.

We are like people who have solar panels in our houses with 24-hour electricity supply yet, we say "what if solar fails, let's pay NEPA bill in advance this month.

What a shame? You have the sure plug, yet you depend on one plug that can fail.

The Holy Spirit brought to my understanding the fact that these hens do not stop following their owner. If he doesn't answer them on time, they go and stand in front of the house, then they start to make sounds and sometimes, use their beaks to knock on the door.

That alone reminds everyone, including Mr X and you will see him bringing them what they want.

But are we Christians perseverant enough? Do we wait till we receive our answers?

The Bible says we should keep asking until our joy is full but do we obey that scripture or get tired of asking? [Jn. 16:24]

It amuses me that we (which includes me) get tired of asking God but we don't get tired of disturbing men. What an irony?

Do we ask and then put God on a deadline? Are we truly waiting? Are we patiently waiting or we're busy looking for other options while waiting?

From the time these hens got to their owner's car to the time they got what they wanted, they never stopped expecting. They never stopped trying. They persevered because they believed they would get food so, they kept waiting.

These hens would wait for hours until they got food o. You'd think they have gone but the moment they hear that the door opens, they run to the door again.

You haven't gotten answers to your prayers yet? Please, keep praying.

If you faint not, your answers will come in God's best time [Gal. 6:9].

Wait on God till He gives you your answers. His time cannot fit in man's time. Men's hands are too tiny to wear God's wristwatch.

Last week, we learnt that waiting is in prayers, meditating on the word, fellowshipping with the brethren.

If someone asks for your account number, you expect money right? If he says he has sent it and has been debited, yet, you haven't seen it, you wait [patiently] till you receive it.

Many of us won't even wait patiently, lol. We'll start checking our phones every minute and start hurling abuses on our banks.

When you wait on God, it means you're expecting something from Him and if you expect something, you have to wait till you receive it.

The Apostles expected to receive the Holy Ghost, they had to wait in the upper room [Acts 1:4 ; 2:1-4].

Daniel expected an answer, he waited for 21 days [Dan 10:2].

Dear Believer, make sure you go with an expectation next time you meet with God, bearing in mind that you'll wait for the answer and do it patiently. [Prov. 10:24]

Also, put on your best attitude while reciting your expectations before God. The Holy Spirit will help you.

While waiting too, get busy and don't let your overall focus be on what you're expecting. Find something profitable to do even while you expect. Na unaware pictures dey fine pass.

And I earnestly pray that as you have an expectation to receive from God and wait patiently, may God honor your wait and double your miracle.
