SERVICE

Dear Believer,

It's my prayer for you that the Lord will lift you and the rewards of diligent service are yours. Amen! ❤️

A man ready to serve

When I was much younger, I never liked helping people do stuff, but I didn't mind if they helped me.

Then, I'd imagine being in front of dignitaries, adorned as the most hard working.

What a fantasy! 🥴

This brings me to talking about something unpopular among believers: service.

Many of us don't even want to hear the words "servant", "service" and other derivatives.

We keep claiming sonship and its related scripture.

Everyone loves red carpet moments and people running after them seeking to take pictures or even desiring autographs on their items.

You certainly love these things too and hope that one day, God will take you to that level where you're so much celebrated. He will, because His plans for you are good (Jeremiah 29:11).

However, there's a need to correct this misconception about salvation: "Goodies will begin to come to me because I'm saved." Well, maybe not.

The plain truth is you have to serve to get goodies and life's benefits.

Salvation only brings these things seamlessly because you don't have to sweat like the unbelievers do. Your father, God, owns the Earth and its fullness.

Many believers don't want to serve anyone and because of that, they make God look like a joker who does not fulfill His Word as they are not able to receive the reward of service. God is not a joker, He's intentional.

Jacob served Laban and he got his reward (Rachel) Genesis 29.

Mordecai served King Ahasuerus so well and God just had to lift Him to a lofty position (Esther 8).

David served his family as a shepherd boy until He was anointed as King (1 Kings 17).

Joseph, your favorite prime minister, served in his father's house, in Potiphar's house and in prison before he got into the palace (Genesis 39).

Even Jesus, who's your perfect role model, served men. He literally washed His disciples' feet.

Leaving His glory above to die for the world's sins was a form of service and that was why God exalted Him (Philippians 2).

We all want enviable positions and desire beautiful things as Christian believers and that's okay.

I do, too. But, we must always remember that service takes one up there.

My Mum will often say, "the way up is down", which means the way to the top place is being a servant.

God lifts the humble and the lowly (the one who comes in the servant form) and exalts him.

Dear Believer, you want all the beautiful things in Christ? pour yourself into service.

God never forgets your service and He will lift you in due season.

Dear Believer, find people to be of service to and do it genuinely. God bless you.

Suggested activity: Pray that God gives you a heart of diligent and sincere service and that he will lift you up through your service.

See you next week. ❤️
