HASTEN! - LWY EP 5
Have you ever received an emergency call while sleeping before? Or have you been opportuned to prepare for an important person's visit within a short notice before?
How did you react to any of these situations? Sluggishly or with haste?
Should you as a believer do anything with haste for the Kingdom's sake?
Find out in this blog post - Hasten!
On a particular weekend, I sat on the backyard stairs of my hostel praying to break my fast for the day.
It was almost time to end the prayers and I started to visualize the food I had prepared to break my fast.
I tried to concentrate on finishing the prayers because I was supposed to be praying not distracted right?
Some minutes later, Baba Carpenter passed by and the Holy Spirit said to me "go and give Baba that rice."
Me to Holy Spirit: So, what will I now eat?
He said 'make noodles'.
Me: But there's no boiled egg to give him.
He said "boil your last egg."
I finished prayers and went to warm the rice and boil the egg.
Should I give Baba my thick takeaway or not? I went back and forth indecisive of what I wanted to package the food in.
To cut the long story, when I fully decided and got to his workshop, Baba had gone home.
Oh my God! I was pained! I honestly felt bad for slacking because I could have given him food before he left.
I felt like pouring the food away. Eii, reality like they say dawned on me that day like it did on Judas Iscariot.
The Holy Spirit said subtly "the King's business requires haste."
This statement made my feelings even worse. I felt betrayed ready to cry. I just started to ask God for mercy before going to carry my noodles on fire which had become soggy at that moment.
The King's business requires haste. Really, it does.
Why God gives an instruction at any point in time is to meet a particular need but if we slack in carrying it out urgently as we received it, we put a minus on the one who should be helped.
Jesus said He will do his Father's work during the day [John. 9:4]. He could have waited till night but there was a sense of urgency in the assignment and it must be done in the day.
The Holy Spirit told Philip "Go and meet that Ethiopian eunuch, He didn't say run but Philip ran because he knew God wanted to do something and the Eunuch could miss it if he didn't meet up with him fast [Acts 8:29-30].
One of my friends would say "When you snooze, you lose."
When the man at Macedonia cried to Paul for help in a vision in Acts 16:9-10, the Bible says in Yoruba version that "Gbàrà tí ó rí ìran náà, a wá ọ̀nà láti lọ sí Masedonia." [Acts 16:10a]
I don't know much of Yoruba so I decided to Google what "gbàrà" means. According to Google translate, it means "immediately."
Paul and the other people didn't even think twice, immediately he saw the vision, they left for Macedonia.
They acted on the vision immediately without wasting any more time.
It takes someone who understands the gravity of a mission to hasten its completion.
It takes the one who understands how cogent an instruction is and what it can do to act on it immediately.
If we truly understand what the King's business is, we'll know it requires haste.
If we truly know what the completion of the King's business will do in people's lives, we'll hasten and make sure we do not slack.
Acts 16:8b (AMPC) says "And when he had seen the vision, we [including Luke] at once endeavored to go on into Macedonia, confidently inferring that God had called us to proclaim the glad tidings (Gospel) to them."
Paul and his team could not delay to go to Macedonia because they understood what it meant to live outside Christ. The people of Macedonia needed the gospel urgently.
The world is waiting for believers to come solve their problems, don't delay, don't be like Jonah [Jonah 1:2-3].
That community is waiting for you to preach to them! That family is waiting for the money the Holy Spirit said you should send! That friend whom God said you should help before he commits suicide is there! Don't delay, carry it out hastily as if the recipient's life depends on it.

The instruction or revelation you have received has a time limit for you to carry it out.
This is a clarion call to Believers to treat the King's business with haste.
It is one thing to carry a job out. It is another thing to carry it out while it counts and is needed.
The King's business requires haste. Dear Believer, treat it as such! Selah.
